One of the many consulting services I offer is research projects. I was recently asked by an international technology company to do research on Knowledge Management. (KM) I thought it would be an interesting subject and well worth taking the time to share with others.
What is Knowledge Management? (KM) Although this may seem simplified and yet complicated at the same time, KM simply is to get the right knowledge to the right person at the right time. KM is a multidiscipline approach tying to a corporate strategy, create value and to leverage, improve, and refine the firm’s competences and knowledge assets to meet the organizational goals and targets.
The objectives would be improved performance, competitive advantage, innovation, the sharing and exchanging of knowledge, integration and continuous improvement of the organization.
Critical Elements: KM Strategy
The key to this strategy must be dependent on the corporate strategy. Knowledge sharing fostering a culture that encourages the sharing of information based on the concept that knowledge is not irrevocable and should be shared and updated to remain relevant. The objective is to manage, share, and create crucial relevance that will help meet tactical and strategic requirements.
Management and Leadership:
Competence is extremely critical in the development of a successful KM program. This requires experience leadership at all levels.
There is so much more to Knowledge Management. Please contact me if you would like to start a Knowledge Management program or would like me to do research on any other subject manner.
