Marketing and Branding your Company
Marketing and Branding your Company
During my tenure at Apple Computer planning the build of Macintosh there was a lot of discussion of why we had the ‘Rainbow’ logo. Graphic designer, Rob Janoof under the instruction of Steve Jobs was asked to come up with the new logo. We knew that this logo was going to be expensive to make due to the multiple colors used.
The “bite” in the apple was implemented so that it would represent an apple and not another fruit. This also was a play on words for the technical term byte versus bite, since after all we were a technology company.
As Apple continued to inspire the world with their products, they also needed to keep up with the times in terms of modernizing the now logo to the Monochrome logo which was changed in 1998 and presently being used today.
The Apple Logo will forever be known as the logo for all Apple Products.
What is marketing and what is Branding?
Simply put, marketing is not just one thing. It’s a multitude of techniques including the use of social media such as websites, Facebook, Twitter, press releases, brochures, logo’s etc.
Marketing is the way we get your product ‘out to the world’ all determined by what you are trying to accomplish.
Sometimes companies don’t understand the importance of putting together a marketing strategy and how its outcome will affect your presences in the market space. It truly can make or break the way you are perceived in the world
Branding is a way where the market place looks at what your product is and remembering it. Companies such as Xerox, Coca-Cola and of course Apple Computer are known the world throughout for their brands.
Branding takes in the intangibles, posting, emotion, specific promises and personalities. The tangibles are the commercials, logos, colors and graphics.
